  1. Awesome replacement for Doodle.
  2. Distributed/federated video hosting platform. The individuals sites don't look very established yet but the software seems like a good idea. Better than just hosting static files though?
  3. Real-time collaboration within Emacs/vim/etc using a proprietary network service. Like what gobby/rudel is supposed to do but less free!
  4. Another online service shutting it doors. Apparently, it is also refusing to be archived!
  5. Not free software and not that interesting. But an interesting project.
  6. "Acquia fastest growing software company in US."
  7. Another decentralized service. Maybe this one will really work?
  8. Maybe in a month, I can try this free software delicious alternative out.
  9. The Franklin Street Statement, in other words?
  10. Might actually release on September 15th.
  11. Beautiful!
  12. Nice post mostly about the fact that hosting free network services can be expensive and that self-hosting can be a rather tricky proposition.
  13. Unscientific survey that still has some important implications for user freedom in an era of network services. The free world is losing ground quickly and has a lot of work to do if it's going to make it up.
  14. I don't know much about Mangnolia but this seems like a very good reason to be worried about Software as a Service.
  15. "Ownership is not as important as it once was." Provocative, if not right. :)
  16. I've been using this a bit and it's pretty awesome.
