  4. " Now OWS is launching the ROLLING JUBILEE, a program that has been in development for months. OWS is going to start buying distressed debt (medical bills, student loans, etc.) in order to forgive it. As a test run, we spent $500, which bought $14,000 of distressed debt. We then ERASED THAT DEBT. (If you’re a debt broker, once you own someone’s debt you can do whatever you want with it — traditionally, you hound debtors to their grave trying to collect. We’re playing a different game. A MORE AWESOME GAME.)"
  5. "The Electronic Frontier Foundation announced a new initiative on Tuesday to seek reform of the United States patent system. But conspicuously missing from the list is the most direct and obvious way to solve the problem: exclude software from patent protection altogether."

  8. I really like this FSF campaign. Please participate and support it!
  9. Amazing. Downhill battle is back!
  10. It's awesome that Sasha will be joining the center.
  11. I went to this event last night where a bunch of musicians did live improvisational recordings of new audio tracks for YouTube video's whose audio has been removed due to copyright infringement. Putting things right!
  12. Malcolm Gladwell on social movements and new technology. He talks about McAdams, Granovetter, and a bunch of other sociology hits. I'm not a huge Gladwell fan usually but, in this case, I think the article is pretty keen.
