  1. A syllabus (but really a sort of howto guide) for onboarding students in Eric Gilbert's lab at UMSI.
  2. Nice write-up of how to ask great questions in seminars. Someday I'll be able to do it like Yochai Benkler or Roberto Fernandez.
  3. I saw this as a MetaFilter question once. That thread did more to expand my reading list than any single page. Pretty nice to see it (or something like it) distilled into a site.
  4. This is pretty a crazy bad way of doing this. But I might want to to do this again some day and wouldn't mind not having to hard for it.
  5. Too bad I've mostly moved to Emacs at this point...
  6. Wonderful essay on wine.
  7. If you haven't started the process of moving to a new GPG key, you should probably read this.
  8. In case you're half an annoyed as I am that my GNOME emulate middle mouse button support just stopped working in GNOME 3. Great work guys.
  9. "There’s no DRM field in the product listing, but it turns out there’s an easy way to tell: just check under product details whether the title has device usage set to unlimited. If so, there’s no DRM."
  10. Awesome video channel that gives a window into how common products are made.
  11. Zotero + OpenOffice.org integration is apparently just broken in Lucid due to some changes in the move away from Sun Java to OpenJDK. This page offers a couple explanations of how to fix this.
